By taking this medicine, the digestion of fat in the intestine is restricted, thus, reducing the total amount energy absorbed from the calories. The effective medicine has the potential to block up to 30% of ingested fat. It has also been found that Orsilat helps to improve cholesterol levels in the body.

Side Effects

•    Gastrointestinal side effects including increased stool size, loosening of stool, oily stool etc.
•    Dangerous to use on its own. Must be coupled with other medication, diet and exercise.

4.    Adipex

This is yet another traditional weight loss medicine that works as an appetite suppressant. Acting on the appetite control centers in the brain the medicine works effectively to suppress the appetite. The key to benefiting from this medicine is to use it in conjunction with a proper diet plan. The medicine is to be consumed in tablet form about half an hour to an hour prior to breakfast. It must be kept in mind that this medicine is in no way a substitute to dieting or exercise rather it will only help when used together with the other aspects of losing weight.

•    Irritability
•    May react with preexisting medical conditions hence it is important to consult a doctor and inform him about your condition including any disease that you may have and any medication that you may be taking for it.

5.    Bontril

This particular medicine is yet another appetite suppressant to be used together with a proper diet plan and exercise. The medicine has been identified as a short term treatment for obesity management as it helps to alter behavior. The medicine is to be taken an hour prior to breakfast on an empty stomach.

•    Slightly impaired or blurry vision
•    Dry mouth
•    Dizziness

6.    Didrex

Another popular appetite suppressant that is floating in the market is Didrex. Just like all the other appetite suppressants it is only effective when used while adhering to a strict diet plan and taking part in regular exercise.
